MINOT, North Dakota – Thanks to the partnership between Arny’s 2.0 and the Aggie Foundation, a $7,050 donation was made to Souris Valley Animal Shelter (SVAS) in an effort to help with costs for a mobile x-ray unit.

Siri Aponte, Community Relations and Development Manage for SVAS, shares the need for donations like this.

“When it comes to such a large donation, such as the one from the Aggie Foundation, it helps things that we cannot get a grant for…It means the world to us. We believe in being incredibly transparent with our finances,” Siri said.

“We love telling the community about our grants and our donations because it’s from them. We want to make sure that the community is constantly knowing that even a $5 donation or a $1 donation goes towards this bucket of being this shelter for our community.”

The SVAS, previously the Souris Valley Humane Society, is an animal shelter that serves cats and dogs. The cats and dogs in this facility are separated by a comprehensive system which ensures their blissful ignorance of the other species’ presence. Every possible type of enrichment material has been provided for each side, along with an onsite medical center capable of performing surgeries. In addition to providing individual attention via its isolation room, both animals enjoy stimulating social activities such as large intake processes and meet-and-greets with potential adopters.

The Aggie Foundation supports a broad spectrum of local organizations in fulfilling their missions in North Dakota. This year, they’ve donated $11,550 to animal welfare in Minot.

“We all have a duty to ensure that our four-legged friends are well cared for, and donating to animal welfare organizations like Souris Valley Animal Shelter is an integral part of upholding this responsibility,” said Wade Kittelson, Aggie Foundation Board Member.
