Partnership between Aggie Foundation and Thirsty Beaver Supports Community Groups

GRANVILLE, North Dakota – The Aggie Foundation made a $2,000 donation to the Granville Economic Development Association (GEDC) to help fund the purchase of holiday decorations.

Lisa Wittstruck, President of GEDC, and Carla Thompson, a representative from City Council, shared the importance of bringing positivity to small communities and how thankful they are for the support.

“It’s a positive impact with a small community. Like Lisa said, we don’t get a lot of funding to do things like that to keep our town fresh and to give the community members something to talk about,” Carla stated.

Lisa shared “I grew up in a small town and I love small towns. I love having the support of other organizations and businesses that keep our little town alive.”

The Aggie Foundation supports a broad spectrum of local organizations in fulfilling their missions in North Dakota. In the last year, the Aggie Foundation has donated around $18,000 to improve the city of Granville made possible because of their partnership with The Thirsty Beaver.

“In small communities, the importance of positivity cannot be overstated,” said Terry Peterson, Aggie Foundation Board President. “Not only does this create a sense of connection, but it also allows for creativity and collaboration that can lead to greater success both within the community and beyond. Positivity is not simply a nice quality to have in small communities – it is absolutely essential for growth and progress”

The GEDC is an organization that helps develop both new and old businesses in the local community. They also create events to encourage the community to interact and even draw other communities in to participate and take part.

The Aggie Foundation was established in 2012 by a group of friends from Velva, ND. The Foundation initially supported its mission of charitable giving via a modest, yearly scholarship provided to a Senior from Velva who excelled in Biology. They began to help raise funds for citizens in need, schools, youth sports, and local organizations or groups doing good things in Velva and the surrounding communities. Their expansion as a broad grant-provider and community partner allows them to support organizations across North Dakota working with community leaders to identify which organizations are in need of economic assistance.
