MINOT, North Dakota – Thanks to the partnership between Arny’s 2.0 and the Aggie Foundation, a $2,000 donation to Special Olympics of North Dakota (SOND) was made in an effort to Dancing for Special Stars.
Nancy Hanson, President and CEO for SOND, shared about the impact of events like this on the athletes.
“It’s hard to describe the feeling you get when you come to one of our events. Things aren’t going well in the world, no matter where you look, things aren’t great. But you come to one of our events and you see the joy on the athletes face, you see how excited they are, not only for themselves, but honestly they cheer for their fellow athletes and their team members. A lot of them don’t care if they win, they just want to compete well, have fun and see others do good,” Nancy said.
“Thank you, this has been a wonderful opportunity and blessing to get this gift and I hope we are considered again in the future because it really is something needed for our athletes to offer the different things for them that they truly truly deserve.”
The SOND supports over 1,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities in North Dakota and over 100 just in Minot. They provide the athletes with sports as well as resources for their mental and physical well being. The organization receives all of their funding through donations and fundraising events and does not charge the athletes any fees to be part of their organization. At the Dancing for Special Stars, SOND was able to raise over $40,000 to continue providing resources for the athletes.
“As a local business owner I am so excited and blessed to be part of giving back to wonderful organizations such as Special Olympics.” said Melissa Wright of Arny’s 2.0.
“We appreciate Aggie foundation for allowing us to be a part of it.”
The Aggie Foundation supports a broad spectrum of local organizations in fulfilling their missions in North Dakota. This year, they’ve donated $12,000 to Special Olympics of North Dakota
