New Scholarship Opportunity for Surrey Seniors
Big Dog Saloon Creates Three Scholarship Opportunities for Graduating Students in Surrey
Big Dog Saloon, in partnership with the Aggie Foundation, have announced a new scholarship opportunity for Surrey High School Seniors. The three scholarships are designated for students pursuing employment in the Health/Medical field, Agriculture, or the Trades industry. The awards can be used for funding higher education, but the selection committee will also consider those who are choosing alternative career paths. Awardees will be announced by graduation day.
Big Dog Saloon hopes to see a diverse pool of requests with applications that demonstrate the students’ passion for their selected fields. The goal is that these scholarships can serve as the “tipping point” of success for the Surrey High School Seniors selected.
“We made a promise to the Surrey community last summer. Helping Big Dog Saloon establish these scholarships is just part of making good on that promise.” Terry Peterson, Aggie Foundation Board President stated.
The Big Dog Saloon/Aggie Foundation partnership has already made a big impact in Surrey. Since July 2021, they’ve been responsible for; $8,000 to update the Surrey Public School health curriculum; $5,632.80 for new uniforms for the boy’s basketball team; $1,000 to support this year’s senior trip; $1,000 for the After-Prom Party; $1,500 to the Surrey Mustang Sharp Shooters; $2,000 to the Surrey Rural Fire Department; and $1,500 for the Cops and Kids program.
Students interested in applying for the scholarship should contact Polly Siverston, Career Development Counselor for Surrey Public School. More information will be provided in the coming weeks, and additional questions can be directed to Terry Peterson, Aggie Foundation President, at aggiefoundation@gmail.com.
The application closes Friday, April 23, 2022.
