Thanks to our partnership with Star City Golf Course & Restaurant we were able to make a $1,000 donation to Velva Backpack Buddies! 
Backpack Buddies is a partnership between Velva Public School and the Great Plains Food Bank. The program provides food for children who might not otherwise have food over the weekend. Food insecurity is the limited of unknown availability of food to meet basic needs. Research shows that hungry children have poorer mental and overall health, miss more days of school, suffer from behavioral issues, and are less focused on learning in school.
